About Dr. Lortie
Karine is an assistant professor with the University of Ottawa’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
She completed her medical training at the University of Ottawa (MD 2003, FRCSC 2008), obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Saskatchewan and Ottawa and fellowship training in minimally invasive gynecology, endoscopic surgery and urogynecology (2008-2009) with the Regina General Hospital, University of Saskatchewan. She has enhanced leadership training (APGO Academic Scholars and Leaders education program, 2013; Senior LHIN Leadership course, The Ottawa Hospital) and is passionate about being involved in the education of future physicians. She currently works for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as a postgraduate education program accreditor and is the AAGL cofellowship Director in Mininally invasive Gynecology in Ottawa.
She has a clinical focus on tertiary level surgical gynecology including expertise in the treatment of uterine fibroids, pelvic masses, pelvic prolapse, endometriosis and hysteroscopic procedures. Her research interests include surgical education, curriculum development and evaluation, outcomes of surgical procedures and patient safety.
